About us
In 1987 God planted a dream in the hearts of Dr. Mark and Sharon Winkler: a vision to see Africa impacted by Christ-centered compassionate medical care. At the same time Dr. Barnabas Mtokambali, DMin, started his spiritual outreach to a small community in Morogoro, Tanzania. This thriving church campus now includes a medical clinic. In 2024, their vision merged and gave birth to Paraclete International Medical Outreach (P.I.M.O.) a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the vision for Christ-centered, compassionate, accessible health care for all of Tanzania.
At P.I.M.O. we believe in Whole Person healing—transforming lives physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Our goal is to bring hope and restoration to underserved communities across Tanzania by addressing medical needs while also fulfilling the Biblical Great Commission by sharing the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. As General Superintendent of the Tanzania Assembly of God, Dr. Mtokambali oversees 17,000 local churches. These congregations have workers and many Christian professionals—doctors, nurse practitioners, midwives, therapists and others—who are excited to work at the projected 31 full-service Uzima Hospital Health Centers to be built across Tanzania in the next 10 years, as funding allows.
Guided by God’s call and a commitment to compassionate care, P.I.M.O. will impact countless lives. We invite you to join us in this mission of love, service, and Whole Person healing as we fulfill the dream God placed in our hearts over three decades ago.
